Lets’ have a concerned look at a problem unprecedented in our country’s history till date. Though we are extremely busy with strategic prevention of war against Pakistan, this is the greatest challenge our country will face during our lifetimes. It’s nothing but the energy crisis. I am overwhelmed by the remarks of an all time great leader Jimmy Carter - “ENERGY IS LIFE”. Naturally For most of us today energy conservation is at the top of our minds. Energy crisis is likely to take a more regretful depict if we do not act quickly.
We must not behave selfish or diffident if we hope to have a modest world for our children. We simply must balance our demand for energy with our rapidly diminishing resources.
Energy plays a key role in achieving the goals of sustainable development. The more we are energy efficient, the more power we could pump through for our development.
Many of us have to pay electric bills each month, so you already know the importance of energy conservation. There is no way for you to have not noticed that your bills have been increasing.
Have you ever asked yourself other than blaming a kinked energy recording what could have been the actual reason behind? It’s the cost, the cost of producing any quantum of energy and it is changing every single day. Many organizations like my own [ASEB], stands an example on this unwanted cost issues. Two of our major generating units suffered severe setbacks on feasible costing of fuels required for rolling the turbines. If you just turn off a few lights, you may not notice it. But, if you acquire disciplined measures to keep yourself in line with your energy saving, you may able to really save money here.
Energy costs continue to rise and even if they slow down, they are not likely to come down. If you want to cut your bill down, then, you must use less energy. These solutions must ask equal sacrifices from every section, every class of people and every interest group. Industries shall have to do its part to conserve, just as the consumers will. Global energy security is the greatest challenge of our time, inextricably interlinked with our economic security. The exponential growth in demand for energy presents extraordinary challenges.
We are well aware that Electrical Energy is generated from both renewable and nonrenewable energy sources. Renewable energy sources include wind (wind power), water (hydropower), sun (solar energy), vegetation (biomass), and internal heat of the earth (geothermal). One Internet report says that about 9.0 percent of electricity in the U.S. is generated from renewable sources. Unfortunately India is still striving to achieve any significant development in this field. We are still very much dependent on natural resources that cannot be replenished (fossil fuels such as oil, gas, and coal). Then where’s the solution? Simple and lucid – CONSERVE ENERGY.
Energy conservation is also important because consumption of nonrenewable sources impacts the environment. Specifically, use of fossil fuels contributes to air and water pollution. For example, carbon dioxide is produced when oil, coal, and gas combust in power stations, heating systems, and car engines. Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere acts as a transparent blanket that contributes to the global warming of the earth, or "greenhouse effect." It is possible that this warming trend could significantly alter our weather. Possible impacts include a threat to human health, environmental impacts such as rising sea levels and major changes in vegetation growth forms that could cause some plant and animal species to become extinct.
Considering the prevailing situation, it is the responsibility of society to look at the problem more seriously and make attempts to ensure proper and judicious use of energy. Solutions can be practiced in many forms. E.g; various residential areas in the country can start for energy savings in their spaces by forming energy conservation societies or groups and attain guidelines to achieve these savings. People working in same office can use their vehicles in an alternate manner for coming to office. Energy efficient gadgets to be encouraged that curtail electricity consumption. Government should fund proper scientific research in order to develop machinery, vehicles and household gadgets that have lower energy consumption. If you really have knowledge and ideas on how to save energy do share with your family, friends, and neighbors. Energy utility companies can adopt energy audits for monitoring progress made in this regard. An example is Chicago’s Edison Elect. Utility Co. They have a 24 Hour free support on educating consumers how to save energy. We can also have our electricity bills with printed information regarding energy conservation.
Save Energy - Save the Earth.

Felt very nice to read yr views. The stress yr ( ASEB)turbines are having in generating electricity out of cost is disturbing. If they can explore other natural energy sources hydel etc that will make some ease if its practically feasible.
ReplyDeleteNo one will agree more with u on the thoughts of conserving energy.Today only I gave lift to and fro to work to people in my bike.I do it consciously and it wins me smiles and increases my energy level 2. What more I can say apart from that. People are working on nuclear things lets see how it goes...nahi to gai, bail, ghoda abhi bhi to jinda hain na..ha ha.
Chal man enjoy life!!
